Lascito Coro–Legacy Choir
Welcome to Lascito Coro—Legacy Choir–an adult SSA choral ensemble of the Louisville Youth Choir!
This choir began as an effort in 2008 to establish a traditional adult SSA choral ensemble to bring together alumni singers from the Louisville Youth Choir (LYC) and Sacred Heart Academy (SHA) due to LYC’s Artists in Residence at Sacred Heart School for the Arts. Over the years, this choir has grown from singers of these two great organizations for learning to include staff and board members from LYC and SHA, to where it is now–bringing together all interested sopranos and altos from across our region to present an annual summer concert series that will ultimately benefit youth. No previous/current affiliation with SHA or LYC is required to participate–open to all!
All proceeds from this annual ensemble’s performances benefit LYC ‘s No Song Unsung Initiative which is a scholarship fund to ensure that ALL young singers in LYC’s service area are afforded the opportunity to sing without any cost barriers to pay for their involvement.
Lascito Coro is securing a legacy of choral singing. The participation in this choir not only provides adult sopranos and altos an opportunity to join together and lift their voices, but most importantly, to be sure that the youth of today are learning the power of community and self-discovery through song.
